Real estate agent Thomas Hutter travels to a remote Transylvanian castle to close a deal with the mysterious Count Orlok, unaware that Orlok is a vampire with designs on Hutter's wife. Murnau's unlicensed Dracula adaptation was ordered destroyed after a copyright suit from Bram Stoker's estate, but surviving prints made Count Orlok's rat-like silhouette one of cinema's most enduring images.
